Our Goal

Suncoast Haven Of Rest Rescue Mission Is Vitally Needed In Pinellas County Florida
Each year Suncoast Haven of Rest Rescue Mission provides millions of pounds of food to low-income people including children and seniors facing hunger in Pinellas County. For the first quarter of 2014 we provided on average food for over 4,333 meals to needy families and individuals every day seven days per week. That is over 561,494 pounds (280 tons) of food provided to the hungry, the needy and the homeless in Pinellas County in these three months alone.

In addition, last year we provided over 1,231,273 meals distributed to hungry people in need of our help. That is over 1,846,910 pounds (923 tons) of food! This year if we keep on the same track as the first three months of 2014, we will distribute over 2,245,974 pounds (1,122 tons) of food to the hungry people of Pinellas County.

But we need your help to accomplish this incredible goal.
When you compare our average cost of our meals for the first quarter of 2014 of only a little more than 7 cents per meal to that of other nationally known very worthy groups that are also trying to combat hunger, the closest one’s average meal price of approximately 60 cents per meal, we were able to provide food for meals for over 8 people for every one person for which they provided food.

What is really amazing and how we are able to accomplish this incredible feat, is that of all of the money and food that the Suncoast Haven of Rest Rescue Mission received for the first three months of 2014, only 2.5% of the total budget went to covering our overhead, with the balance going right back to the community who needs it most. Over 97 cents of every dollar donated to the Suncoast Haven of Rest Rescue Mission in food and money went directly back to the people who need it the most…the hungry, the needy, and the homeless.

But in addition to providing over 1,621,271 meals to hungry people in the last 15 months, In the same 15 month period the Suncoast Haven of rest Rescue Mission also distributed an additional $104,395 in vouchers to help desperately needy families pay their power or water bills, and to help with their rent and other needs to be able to keep their families together and off the streets.

Suncoast Haven Of Rest Rescue Mission Does Much More Than Just Provide Food For The Hungry, The Needy and The Homeless In Pinellas County Florida

Suncoast Haven Of Rest Rescue Mission Needs Your Help!
Abused childBut Suncoast needs your help. With the economy struggling like it is, our donations have been severely affected. Up until now, we haven’t had to reduce any of our services or cash assistance, but to accomplish this, we have dipped into our reserve funds to the point that they are dangerously low. We need your help to be able to keep this wonderful Mission and the desperately needed services that we offer Pinellas County going.

Severe threats to our country’s nutrition programs hover over Congress and food insecurity holds steady at an unacceptably high and accelerating rate. While our economy shows some signs of recovery, the thousands of people struggling in Pinellas County have not felt it. The long-term food security that the Suncoast Haven of Rest Rescue Mission provides, improves our educational system, supports a healthy work-force and helps develop a more prosperous future for our community. Through our various programs, and services, Suncoast supports client efforts to climb out of poverty and into a future free from hunger.
