For Little More Than 7 Cents Per Meal!
Our Impact, Our Goals
Our Rescue Mission Is vitally needed in Florida
Our Rescue Mission increasingly provides millions of pounds of food to marginal low-income families and homeless persons each year, including children and seniors, who are food insecure. In the first month of 2021, alone, we provided food for over 108,000 meals to needy families and individuals.
In addition, last year (2020) we were instrumental in providing nearly 2.9 million meals distributed to impoverished hungry people in need of our help. That amounted to over 4.3 million pounds of food! This year if we keep on the same track as last year, we are seeking to distribute well over 6 million pounds of food to multiple thousands of hungry people.
But we need your help to accomplish this incredible goal
When you compare the average cost of our meals of only a little more than 7 cents per meal to that of other nationally known, very worthy groups that are also trying to combat hunger, the typical nonprofit organization’s average meal price is approximately 50 cents per meal; we are able to provide food for meals for over eight people for every one person (7 to 1) for which others provide food.
What is really amazing and how we are able to accomplish this incredible feat, is that any the funds, food and any donation which The Suncoast Haven of Rest Rescue Mission receive, only 3.5% of the total budget goes toward covering our overhead, with the balance going right back into the community that needs it most.
96.5% of every dollar donated to the Suncoast Haven of Rest Rescue Mission in food and money goes directly back to the people who need it the most…the hungry, the needy, and the homeless.
But in addition to providing over 2.9 million meals to poor hungry people in 2020, The Suncoast Haven of rest Rescue Mission also facilitated $100,000 in vouchers to help desperately needy, marginal but domiciled families pay their power or water bills, and their rent and other needs to be able to keep their families together and off the streets.
But the Suncoast Haven of Rest Rescue Mission does not stop rescuing people there. Everyone at the Suncoast Haven of Rest Rescue Mission believes in ministering not only to the physical needs of individuals but to their psychological, emotional and spiritual needs as well. In addition to food and money provided to the needy, the Suncoast Haven of Rest Rescue Mission also provides help and access to…

-
- Free reading glasses
-
- Crisis Intervention (Pastor)
-
- Food Stamps (ACCESS Florida)
-
- Pastoral counseling
- And much, much more.
And Suncoast does all of this by only using 3.5% of our total budget to operate and manage our outreach with over 96.5% of all funds and assistance that we receive going directly to those who need it most, the hungry, the needy, and the homeless.*

Severe threats to our country’s nutrition programs hover over Congress and food insecurity holds steady at an unacceptably high and accelerating rate. While our economy shows some signs of recovery, the thousands of people struggling in Pinellas County have not felt it. The long-term food security that the Suncoast Haven of Rest Rescue Mission provides, improves our educational system, supports a healthy work-force and helps develop a more prosperous future for our community. Through our various programs, and services, Suncoast supports client efforts to climb out of poverty and into a future free from hunger.
Personal involvement in giving and support to help improve food security is important for all of us. Together, we can ensure that every man, woman and child has access to the food they need to lead an active, healthy life today while building a more food secure future for themselves and their families.
But we can only do that if our more fortunate citizens continue to provide for these people’s needs. We cannot do it without you. Please consider how you can help. We need additional food sources, money and volunteers who want to make a real difference in the thousands of hungry, needy families and individuals in Pinellas and surrounding counties.
Thank You For What You Have Done And For What You Are Going To Do In The Future
Remember, for every dollar that was donated in food and money last year, Suncoast was able to provide food to feed nearly 14 meals to hungry children and individuals in addition to the countless families we helped with direct financial assistance.
We simply could not do this without people like you.
You are the people who are the real heroes.
Thank you for your continued help and support of Suncoast Haven of Rest Rescue Mission.
